At this point, it feels safe to conclude that Dakota Johnson and Role Model (aka Tucker Pillsbury) are full-on dating, even if they’ve been very coy about the whole thing. Most recently, Dakota made a spoken-word cameo on the song “Love I You” from Role Model’s new album Chuck Timely & the Hourglass, and during a conversation with Nylon, the musician opened up about “mixing work and relationships.” Oh, and according to the mag: “He does admit that they’re together.”

Wondering how this relationship came to be? Let’s take it back to the very beginning, starting with...

June 2025

Dakota Johnson and Chris Martin end their relationship after eight (on-and-off) years together, with a source telling Page Six that Dakota “was sick of him dragging his feet on setting a date for the wedding.”

Oh, and another insider tells The Sun: “They really tried to work through their issues but the age gap was often a problem and she'd expressed that she may want children in the future, whereas Chris is kind of done with that part of his life but they discussed it... They made some beautiful memories as a family and it'll be hard for both of them to move on after such a long relationship but they will do it.”

November 2025

An insider tells People that Dakota “has been slowly dating again and she’s happy,” adding, “Her relationship with Chris was often hot and cold, and while she always hoped they’d work out, she seems lighter and more at peace now that it’s final.”

December 2025

TMZ publishes the incredibly titled article “Dakota Johnson: I Need a Role Model in My Life!!!” and informs everyone that Dakota and Role Model were spotted “huddled over a candlelit dinner over the holiday with friends” and “got very close.”

Per the outlet: “Sources tell us Dakota was lying on him all cuddled up at the cozy dinner.”

January 2026

Mere weeks after their first sighting, Dakota and Role Model are snapped grabbing dinner in Los Angeles—and the footage makes its way to Deuxmoi.

Not long after, Role Model and Dakota are photographed once again during what looks like a date night in L.A. and then holding hands (!!) after leaving the restaurant. Oh!

March 2026

Despite rumours that the two may have fizzled out, a Deuxmoi source claims Dakota and Role Model are still going strong.

“Tucker has been in L.A.,” a source notes. “They are completely fine. Just both very chill homebodies.”

By the end of the month, the maybe-couple is photographed holding hands at the celeb-packed Paul McCarthy show in L.A., effectively dispelling any split rumours.

April 2026

Alert: Dakota and Role Model are spotted full-on kissing in a Los Feliz parking lot during a date night!

Two days later, Dakota’s mom Melanie Griffith enters the chat, telling a photographer, “I think he’s fabulous,” when asked for her thoughts on her daughter’s new beau.

July 2026

Insiders tell Deuxmoi that Dakota reportedly “filmed a music video for boyfriend Role Model’s new album.”

A few weeks later, Role Model debuts a new song called “Love I You” during a show in Chicago, which features a flirty back-and-forth between him and what sounds like Dakota during the bridge.

August 2026

Role Model’s interview with Nylon is published, in which he confirms that Dakota provided the female voice on “Love I You.”

As for how the cameo came to be: “I had a lot of names to pick from for that,” he explains, “and then Dakota came to the studio one day, and Mason [Stoops, guitarist and producer] was like, ‘Why don’t you do it?’ I was like, ‘Stop! We’re not mixing work and relationships.’ She was like, ‘I’ll do it,’ and stood right up and got in the booth and knocked it out better than we could have imagined. So I was like, okay, if she’s down—I mean, that’s an amazing cameo.”

That brings us up to date, but stay tuned...
