Missing Industry already? Same. But while we wait for our next dose of wildly ambitious people making questionable decisions in expensive clothes, there is another finance drama ready to fill the void.
Enter Billions, the seriously addictive Wall Street drama starring Damian Lewis and Paul Giamatti that serves up seven seasons of money, power, betrayal and extremely rich people attempting to destroy each other.
And if the high-stakes world of Industry is your thing, there’s plenty here to keep you entertained. Instead of Pierpoint, Billions takes us inside the world of hedge funds, Axe Capital, and an increasingly personal battle between a hedge fund manager and an US Attorney.
Basically, imagine Industry with billions more dollars and one very long-running grudge. Intrigued? Let's talk about it.
What is Billions about?
Billions centres on Bobby 'Axe' Axelrod, a hugely successful hedge fund manager who has made an enormous fortune through his company, Axe Capital.
He's rich, ruthless and very good at what he does. The problem? US Attorney Chuck Rhoades is equally determined to prove that Axe hasn't necessarily made all that money by playing by the rules.
What follows is a cat-and-mouse battle between the pair as Chuck attempts to bring Axe down, while Axe uses his money, influence and considerable intelligence to stay one step ahead.
And things get even messier thanks to Wendy Rhoades (Maggie Siff), Chuck's wife, who also happens to work as a performance coach at Axe Capital.
Yep. Awkward. From there, alliances shift, relationships implode and seemingly everyone gets dragged into the battle for power.
Who stars in Billions?
Damian Lewis leads the original cast as Bobby Axelrod, while Paul Giamatti plays his nemesis Chuck Rhoades while Maggie Siff stars as Wendy.
The English actor already had an Emmy-winning turn in Homeland under his belt when Billions arrived, while Paul has since added an Oscar nomination for The Holdovers to an already ridiculously impressive CV.
And the cast only gets bigger as the series goes on.
Corey Stoll joins as billionaire Mike Prince, while David Costabile plays Axe’s brilliantly chaotic right-hand man Mike 'Wags' Wagner. Asia Kate Dillon stars as Taylor Mason, with Condola Rashad, Jeffrey DeMunn and Daniel Breaker also among the ensemble.
How many seasons of Billions are there?
Here’s the good news if you’re looking for something you can really get stuck into: there are seven seasons of Billions.
The series first premiered in 2016 and eventually wrapped in 2023 with a 12-episode final season.
Is Billions worth watching if you love Industry?
While Billions and Industry are very different shows, the appeal overlaps.
Both take us inside elite financial worlds where enormous amounts of money are at stake and ambition can get very ugly, very quickly.
But where Industry follows young bankers trying to establish themselves in the City, Billions starts at the other end of the food chain: these characters already have the money, power and influence – and are now fighting to keep it.
Plus, with seven seasons already finished, there's no agonising wait for the next episode.
Your next binge = sorted.
Billions is available to stream on Paramount+ and via NOW TV or Sky Go
