It's been almost 10 years since BBC's Doctor Foster was last on our screens and now we have the official confirmation Suranne Jones will be returning for one final season as the iconic Gemma Foster.
The chilling first series came out in 2015 and was described by fans as a "brilliant cat and mouse game" and "a whirlwind of emotions" as Suranne starred as Doctor Gemma Foster, a woman who begins to suspect her husband Simon is having an affair and takes it on herself to enact her revenge.
As the series developed it became clear Simon was cheating on his wife, with a 23-year-old student Kate played by Jodie Comer. The second series, which came out two years later, then focussed on Simon and Kate, now married, returning to the town intent on getting custody of Simon and Gemma's son Tom.
Now nearly a decade later, the show will be returning for a third and final season. Here's what to know about it.
What will happen in Doctor Foster season 3?
Season two ended with the heartbreaking discovery of Tom walking away from both his parents after the toil the last few years had taken on him.
Now, the new season will be set 10 years on and see Gemma preparing to marry someone new. However, just as the wedding draws closer, and Gemma's friends and family are gathering to celebrate her, "shadows from the past begin to re-emerge threatening both her happiness and her reputation." Will Gemma finally be able to get her happy ending she deserves? Or can you ever really put the past to bed?
Ahhhh, this sounds so gripping! See the first image the BBC released earlier today to celebrate the return of the series:
