If like me, one of your TV highlights of the year is BBC's Silent Witness, and you're already missing the on-screen dynamic of Jack and Nikki as they solve tense cases across Birmingham, then I have just the show to replace it with.
Signora Volpe stars Silent Witness' Emilia Fox as a spy turned detective, who moves to Italy and finds she can't exactly lead a peaceful life as cases keep coming her way.
We're so used to seeing Emilia as pathologist Dr Nikki Alexander, assisting the detectives in their cases (and often doing a better job than them), that it's very fun to see her actually play a detective. Oh, and the Italian scenery is definitely an improvement on the rainy UK settings of Silent Witness.
Want to add Signora Volpe to your must-watch list? Here's what to know about it.
What is Signora Volpe about?
Signora Volpe debuted in 2022 with three episodes and follows Sylvia Fox (Emilia Fox), an MI6 spy who is disillusioned with London life and heads to Italy for her niece's wedding. But when she arrives for the happy day, the groom is missing and Sylvia discovers a woman's body in his garden. What follows is a series of cases that Sylvia must solve, whilst also keeping herself out of danger.
The second season arrived in 2024 and a third has been renewed. Signora Volpe has an average score of 7.5 out of 10 from IMDb users and many rate the show's more slower paced drama that's still full of twists and mystery.
One person said: "Beautiful scenery with good acting and interesting stories. Emilia Fox is always a joy to watch with a good supporting cast." While another viewer said: "It's testament to the acting skills of Emilia Fox, they she's able to make Sylvia completely different to Nikki, at no point did I think of Silent Witness."
