Obviously, we're all obsessed with Bridgerton. That goes without saying. So obsessed, in fact, that we charged through season 2 without really blinking and now, well, we're a little sad it's over. Well, the good news is it's not over for good, Bridgerton season 3 is on its way. So, now the big question is, will Kate and Edwina Sharma be back for the third instalment of the hit Netflix show?
Kate and Edwina were new additions for series two and became the focus of the show's dramatic love triangle, when Anthony Bridgerton (Jonathan Bailey) sets his sights on courting Edwina (Charithra Chandran), only to fall madly in love with her sister Kate (Simone Ashley).
While we all fell head over heels for Kathony, we also all really want Edwina to get her own spin-off, and generally just want to see more of the Sharma sisters. However, after getting us all to fall in love with Simon Basset, The Duke of Hastings, aka Regé-Jean Page, back in season 1 showrunners had no problem not bringing the character back for season 2. So, to be honest, we're on our guard.
By the end of season 2 Kate and Anthony are happily married, while Edwina has clarified her own feelings about everything and is ready to move on with her life. So, it feels like there is story there yet to be told, both in terms of Kathony's wedded bliss and Edwina's romantic future. And fans are certainly keen to see more from the sisters.
During an interview with Entertainment Weekly, show creator Chris Van Dusen spoke about whether the characters could return for the show's third season, remarking, "All I can say is I hope so."
Us too, Chris. Us too.
