Bridgerton season 2 ending explained
Kate and Anthony end up together
After eight episodes of almost kisses, heavy breathing and longing looks, Kate and Anthony *finally* get married in the final episode. Following Kate's recovery from her accident, she and Edwina go for one final night of fun at the Featherington ball, before Kate plans to return to India and Lady Danbury promises to sponsor Edwina for another season.
Edwina asks her sister to be true to her feelings, and Kate ends up dancing with Anthony at the ball. Despite the whispers of those around them, the Queen voices her approval of the pair, thanks to their electric chemistry. Though we do not see the nuptials, we see Anthony and Kate six months after they tie the knot. They're happily hanging out with his siblings and being as competitive as ever on the croquet lawn, as the new Viscount and Viscountess Bridgerton.
The Queen promises to set Edwina up
Despite being the diamond of the season, Edwina fails to find a suitable match following the drama with Anthony and her sister Kate. But all is not lost; while Anthony and Kate are dancing during the final ball, Queen Charlotte (Golda Rosheuvel) promises to set her up with her nephew, who is a prince.
Lady Featherington gets one up on Cousin Jack
Following Lord Featherington's (Ben Miller) death in season one, Lady Featherington is left broke, and Cousin Jack Featherington (Rupert Young) arrives to take over the household. After tricking him into proposing to daughter Prudence (Bessie Carter), Jack quickly admits to Portia (Polly Walker) that he's actually not wealthy at all. The pair conspire to con other members of the ton out of their money by asking them to invest in his completely defunct mining business, while planning to keep the money.
But once Colin Bridgerton (Luke Newton) discovers the business is a fraud - and the jewels Cousin Jack has been giving out are fakes - Portia insists she knew nothing about his con-artist ways and demands he leaves London. She claims she was duped by his lies, forcing him to leave town and call off the engagement.
Penelope Featherington and Eloise Bridgerton fall out
Eloise (Claudia Jessie) spends much of the second season on a mission to discover who Lady Whistledown is, only for Queen Charlotte to accuse her of being the gossip columnist. In a bid to protect her friend from the accusations, Penelope (Nicola Coughlan) exposes Eloise's connections to a radical feminist group, putting the Bridgertons' reputation at risk.
At the Featherington ball, Eloise tells Penelope she's stopped looking for Lady Whistledown, and Pen makes the mistake of gossiping about the people in the room in front of her. Later, Pen finds Eloise in her room and the pair have an argument, with Pen finally admitting to being Lady Whistledown.
In the end, Eloise says she never wants to speak to Pen again, blaming her for the Bridgertons' fall from grace. RIP Peloise!
