If you think everyone is having sex in the Love Island USA Villa, well…not everyone is. During an appearance on Harry Jowsey’s Boyfriend Material podcast, Love Island USA season 8 Bombshell Gal Tshnieder revealed that he and many of his fellow Islanders had decided ahead of filming that they would not be having sex while on the show…or, at least, not in the shared bedroom.
“Is everyone having sex? That’s my big question,” Harry asked during the interview, to which Gal responded, “No. No, and when I went on, I went in there and I was like, ‘Guys, just so you know, I promised my mom no sex,’ and they were like, ‘Yeah, me too. We’re not fucking in here.’”
That said, Gal admitted that there was other sexual activity, if not explicitly intercourse. “I mean, there’s other things going on, but for the most part, no,” he added.
Harry, who has experience on similar reality shows, was surprised by Gal’s answer. “Dude, that’s so crazy because I was watching and I’m like, because I’ve obviously been in the same situation, and I’ve had sex in those rooms in front of everyone,” the 29-year-old host said.
As a reminder: Harry got his start on reality TV on the New Zealand dating series Heartbreak Island, which he won. He then went on to appear on Netflix’s Too Hot to Handle and Perfect Match—and up next, you can catch him on his own show, Let’s Marry Harry, which debuts next month.
Gal’s response about Villa sex might also come as a surprise to Love Island USA viewers, since we know that at least a couple of Islanders had sex outside of the Hideaway during season 8.
For instance: Trinity Tatum and Bryce Dettloff, the eventual winners of the season, had sex in the shared bedroom, as Trinity revealed during an episode. As explained by People, Trinity first told Kayda Bosse that Bryce told her “not to say anything.” But when Kayda said, “Tell me.” Trinity responded, “I’m gonna tell you by yourself.” Then she whispered in Kayda’s ear, “We fucked. It was good.”
Other than that, this season also had some instances of fans not being quite sure what was going on under the sheets, such as that first night Jen Terry and Gabriel Vasconcelos shared a bed, or that infamous scene between Kenzie Annis and Corbin Mims. But who knows—perhaps both pairs were just enjoying some “French fries.” (IYKYK.)
Previous seasons also involved sex and secret phrases. Season 7 star Hannah Fields told Us Weekly, “We had a code name for intimacy. We would say, ‘How was your journey? What was this journey like?’ Huda [Mustafa started it when she] said something like, ‘Oh, I had a journey. My journey went all the way.’”
Well, Gal’s journey—like, journey on the show, I mean!—only lasted just over a week, so maybe he wasn’t privy to everything that went down.
