Apparently, everyone thinks Corbin Mims seems like a robot—viewers and fellow Islanders alike. After seeing Corbin’s personality (or seeming lack thereof, at least initially...) on season 8 of Love Island USA, some fans began calling him “CorbinGPT” and comparing him to AI.

So when Corbin’s fellow Islanders were seen saying similar things, fans started theorizing that the producers were keeping the cast up-to-date on the online conversation even though they are supposed to be disconnected from reality. The theory was even talked about on The Viall Files, with host Natalie Joy saying, “There was is just no way that one of those guys came up with that.”

Well, according to one Islander, the cast did come up with that and arrived at the same conclusion about Corbin, separately. Pop culture commentator Stephanie Tleiji, aka @stephwiththedeets, posted a video of eliminated contestants Gabriel Vasconcelos and Sean Reifel chatting about the show. Gabriel, who was on the series longer than Sean, explained that the cast really started giving Corbin a hard time about the AI thing on their own.

“People outside, they are calling Corbin AI,” he says, “but we started with that!”

Along with the clip of Gabriel and Sean talking, @stephwiththedeets points out that Bryce mentioned Corbin being like an AI robot “so many times.” But as Steph explains, “Apparently Corbin just comes off very robotic…[The cast] probably are seeing it ten times more in person.”

For instance: A video posted by the official Love Island TikTok account on June 16 shows one of Corbin’s robotic moments. While Corbin zones out, Bryce Dettloff says, “Corbin, what the hell are you thinking about?” Zach Georgiou adds, “He’s rebooting. Corbin, activate!”

Another instance of Corbin being made fun of for his demeanor came when he was eliminated from the show along with Parmida Keshani in episode 29. When Corbin teared up over being sent home, Bryce said, “We broke the robot! I didn’t know AI could cry!”

Dylan Wrona adds, “Wait, they put tears in that?” But while the guys joked around with Corbin, the love between everyone was clear. Amid the AI digs were tons of warm, very human hugs.

Now I just need to know whether the producers are in Bryce and Zach’s ears about those Zryce shippers...
