No material gives the feeling of summer quite like broderie anglaise with its pretty detailing and elegant feel. And as we head into the warmer months, we're embracing the delicate fabric across both our wardrobes and our homes, and H&M has just the tablecloth to get us into the style.

Broderie anglaise has been in the UK since the 19th century and is made up of small round or ovals holes punched out of the fabric, often to create floral or leaf designs. Over the years we've come to associate the look with summer style, as broderie anglaise is typically created on white and pale shades of floaty fabric which work so well in the summertime.

And this summer we'll be using the fabric on our dining table with H&M's new tablecloth which is just £14.99.

If you're a H&M member you can currently get the tablecloth at a reduced price of £12.75 and it measures up at 90 by 90 cm.

We love the feel of the tablecloth for decorating a dining table for any summery meal. Just think of how platters of barbecued vegetables or bright berries will look against the stark white of the table cloth. It'll also work well with a variety of dinnerware sets, whether you go for bright shades of lemon yellow or pink on your table, or more muted earthy tones such as sage green or ecru.

It's made from 100 per cent cotton and can be machine washed up to 60 degrees, so it's perfect if any of your guests make any spillages. Oh, and it can also be dry cleaned.

If you want to complete the look there is also a set of matching napkins in the exact same fabric. However, to add another element of interest to your table, we'd recommend one of H&M Home's other napkin sets, such as these terracota stripe set of napkins or these lemon yellow sun motif design four pack of napkins to give some contrast to the table.
