It tells the story of Joanne and Noah who meet at a dinner party, and the two quickly fall for each other, but face some major stumbling blocks in their relationship due to their religious beliefs. Noah is a rabbi, while Joanne is agnostic. At just 30 minutes each episode and with quick-witted script, we may have binged our way through it in one evening. Joanne
Joanne is one of the series leads, and she is the co-host of a sex and relationships podcast, with her sister Morgan. While successful in her career, her relationships haven't always worked out for the best.
Kristen Bell
Playing Joanne is the iconic Kristen Bell, 44. You will undoubtedly know Kristen as the voice of Gossip Girl and as Veronica Mars in the series Veronica Mars. You might also know her as the voice of Anna in Frozen, or for her roles in Forgetting Sarah Marshall, The Good Place, Couples Retreat, and The Woman in the House Across the Street from the Girl in the Window. Honestly, she has such a stacked CV.
Noah
Noah is a rabbi, who has recently got out of a long-term relationship and begins dating Joanne, despite his family's dislike of Noah dating someone who isn't Jewish.
Adam Brody
Ok, you either know Adam Brody, 44, as Dave Rygalski in Gilmore Girls or as Seth Cohen in The O.C., sorry but we don't make the rules. Since his early 00s roles, you will also recognise Adam from his roles in Fleishman Is In Trouble, Mr and Mrs Smith, StartUP and Jennifer's Body, among many other notable roles. Oh, and also as the husband of Gossip Girl's Leighton Meester.
Morgan
Morgan is Joanne's sister and podcast co-host, she's initially suspicious of her sister dating Noah.
Justine Lupe
Morgan is played by Justine Lupe, 35, and you'll probably best know her for her role as Willa in Succession. She's been booking roles since 2011 and has also starred in Luckiest Girl Alive, The Marvellous Mrs Maisel, Mr Mercedes, and Madame Secretary.
Sasha
Sasha is Noah's brother and is married to Esther, and it's fair to say the pair have a rather tense relationship.
Timothy Simons
Sasha is portrayed by Timothy Simons, 46, who is best known for his role as Jonah Ryan on Veep. He's also had notable roles in Don't Worry Darling, Joy Ride and a number of voice roles in series such as Rugrats and House Broken.
Esther
Esther is Sasha's wife and initially very against Noah and Joanne dating.
Jackie Tohn
Jackie Tohn, 44, plays Esther and you'll probably best know her for her role on GLOW as Melanie. She's been acting since the early 2000s and appeared in an episode of Veronica Mars and The Good Place alongside Kristen Bell, and has voiced one of the characters in the children's animated series Do, Re & Mi, also alongside Kristen. Basically, these two just work together all the time.
Bina
Bina is Noah's mother, and is less than impressed with his relationship with Joanne.
Tovah Feldshuh
Tovah Feldshuh, 75, is a Broadway icon and has been on the stage for over 50 years, and won four Tony awards. Over the years she's starred in productions of Yentl, Saravá, Lend Me a Tenor, and Golda's Balcony. She's also appeared in film and TV for many years with roles in The Walking Dead, Just My Luck, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, and Law and Order.
