Fans of Broadchurch, this one is for you. The Light In The Hall: Still Waters is back on Channel 4 tonight [16th June] for a season two, with a new story set in the same fictional Welsh town of Llanemlyn. But who are the new and returning characters and the actors who play them?
The series is the English-language version of Y Golau: Dŵr, which previously aired in Welsh on S4C. As the Channel 4 description explains, season two is "told across two timelines. The story begins in 1995, when activist Llyr Owen dies in a bombing and his cousin Rhys is jailed for the crime.
"Thirty years later, Rhys returns home to a community once again divided by protest. As trainee journalist Caryl becomes drawn into the story, her investigation begins to unravel hidden truths, exposing secrets that have shaped the town for decades, in a gripping drama of protest, guilt and generational reckoning."

Who is the actor? The Welsh actor is best known for playing detective Cadi John in three series of Hidden, while she also starred in the TV adaptation of Sexy Beast and has been in the likes of Vera and Holby City.
Who do they play? Siân plays Caryl, the journalist who begins investigating the link between the crimes of 30 years ago and the expansion of the reservoir, digging into family secrets and open wounds.
Mark Lewis Jones Y Sŵn as Rhys Owen
Who is the actor? Another Welsh actor and speaker, Mark is a key player in the theatre scene and has also had major roles in Outlander, Chernobyl and the Welsh thriller Keeping Faith.
Who do they play?In the show, he plays Rhys, who is proclaiming his innocence after his release from prison for his involvement in his cousin's death back in 1995.
Nia Roberts as Eve Davies
Who is the actor? Nia is a prolific Welsh actor who has starred in a number of Welsh-speaking roles, including Hidden and Steeltown Murders, as well as a memorable Doctor Who appearance as Ambrose.
Who do they play?In The Light In The Hall: Still Waters, Nia plays Eve, a university lecturer and menor to Caryl Huws, the trainee journalist who is investigating the protest.
Robert Glenister as Robert Davies
Who is the actor? The actor is best known for his lead role in Hustle, which aired between 2002 - 2014, but fans will also recognise him as Nicholas Blake in the spy drama series Spooks and also from Sherwood.
Who do they play?In the show, Robert is Eve's father and the controversial head of the company pushing for reservoir expansion plans.
Tom Rhys Harries as Hari Breckon
Who is the actor? The actor is probably most recognisable for his roles in Netflix's White Lines and Suspicion. He also starred in Jekyll and Hyde in 2015) and Unforgotten in 2018.
Who do they play? In The Light In The Hall: Still Waters season 2, he plays an environmental activist and protestor, against the expansion plans.
Maeve Courtier-Lilley as Mabli Davies Owen
Who is the actor? The Welsh actor has had roles in The Red King (2024) and The Outpost (2021), as well as in Netflix's adaptation of Harlan Coben's book Run Away, where she played Dee Dee.
Who do they play?Maeve is Eve's daughter / Robert's granddaughter, while also being a key player in the protest.
