Big news for Emily in Paris fans: Netflix has confirmed that production on season five will start in May, with the next instalment scheduled to hit our screens by the end of the year. Yay! But, while we're super excited to see Emily and le gang return, one of the original cast members of the show won't be reprising her role when the fifth series lands on Netflix.

Sadly, it's time to say 'au revoir' to Emily's former friend and love triangle rival, Camille - played by Camille Razat IRL. She was missing from the confirmed list of returning characters released by Netflix on 17 April. Said list included all the main characters we'd expect to see (that's Emily, Mindy, Sylvie etc) but also surprisingly Gabriel and Alfie. More on that in a moment.

Since the finale of season four, which saw Camille pack her bags and leave Paris after faking her pregnancy in a bid to prolong her relationship with Gabriel, fans have been curious about whether she was departing the series for good - and now we know that is the case.

Previously speaking to Deadline (at the time of the season four release in September 2024) about Camille's future, Emily in Paris creator Darren Star said: "People come and go out of people's lives in shows for a period of time, but it doesn't mean that they're off the table."

And now on 23 April, Camille Razat has shared her own statement on leaving the show since the news was released.

Over on her Instagram Camille shared a selection of BTS pictures from her time filming Emily in Paris, before writing a heartfelt caption expressing her love of the show, but confirming she won't be returning.

"After an incredible journey, I’ve made the decision to step away from Emily in Paris," she began her statement. "It has been a truly wonderful experience, one filled with growth, creativity, and unforgettable memories. I’m deeply grateful to @starmandarren and the entire team at @netflix and @paramountpics for their trust and for giving me the opportunity to bring Camille to life and leaving the door open for her return, as she will always be a part of Emily In Paris world. This character has meant a lot to me, and I feel that her storyline has naturally come to an end. It felt like the right moment to explore new horizons."

She then went onto reveal the other projects she's now working on, including a show with Netflix and another with Disney+.

"I’ve recently wrapped two series: Nero for Netflix and the Lost Station girls for Disney+. I’m also excited to share that I’ve launched my own production company, @tazar_production. We mainly produce music videos and short films for now, but we’re currently developing our first feature film, something I’m truly passionate about and excited to grow," she wrote. "I leave the show with nothing but love and admiration for the cast, crew, and fans who have supported us along the way. Thank you for the beautiful ride 💕."

We'll certainly miss Camille's chic French fashion and quick wit on the show - and she'll always be remembered for that iconic mic-drop birthday speech from season two.
