What happens in the final episode of Cobra Kai?

*Spoiler Alert*

The Sekai Takai Returns

After a mass brawl leads to Kwon losing his life, it seems like the end of the line for the students and senseis’ dreams of karate world domination. That is, until Terry Silver manages to convince Daniel and Johnny to bring back the Sekai Tai. At first, it seems like a good way to get closure for Daniel and Johnny, not just on, but off the karate mat too, especially with Silver being uncharacteristically flexible, even agreeing to move the tournament to Johnny’s home turf, the All Valley.

However Silver’s intentions are not what they seem, as he remains hell bent on getting revenge on Daniel, Johnny and the rest of Cobra Kai, no matter what it costs.

Sam realises winning isn't everything

Sam reaches out to Tory and realises Tory has more to lose by not winning than she does, and offers to help her train. In true Miyagi Do fashion, Sam learns that true victory isn’t always about stepping onto the karate mat. Winning is knowing when to step back, so she decides to sacrifice her place in the Sekai Tekai final, so Tory can have a chance to win and get her life back on track.

One wedding and a baby

When Carmen’s mum gives Johnny a reminder that if you like it then you should've put a ring on it, he decides to pop the question, and not a moment too soon as Carmen goes into labour (but not before she says yes luckily.) Who’d have thought that a hospital room could be a romantic spot for a wedding? And in a touching tribute, they name their baby girl after Johnny’s mum Laura.

Johnny and Kreese make amends

Kreese comes to the realisation that he has let Johnny down in a big way, and the two of them have it out before Kreese makes amends by signing Cobra Kai back to Johnny, meaning that Tory and Miguel can both represent Cobra Kai in the final.

However, Kresse’s biggest sacrifice turns out to be one that Johnny doesn’t know. When Silver threatens Carmen and the baby, a fight on Silver's yacht ends in a huge explosion. But this being Cobra Kai, who knows whether this is really the end for the two nemesis.

Johnny isn’t the only one making amends with his mentor. Daniel finally comes to terms with Mr Miaygi’s past and his future without his sensei. A pearl necklace reveals the truth behind the newspaper article that Mr Miyagi was attacked by the security guard who had stolen his dead wife’s pearl necklace and had acted in self defence. But with a new Karate Kid film out later this year, it looks like Mr Miyagi’s story is far from over.

Cobra Kai never dies

As Cobra Kai takes on the Iron Eagles, history repeats itself when a dirty move by the Iron Eagles star fighter, Axel Kovačević on the orders of the Iron Eagles Sensai Wolf puts Robbie out of commission as he breaks his knee.

However, thanks to Kreese handing Cobra Kai back to Johnny, Miguel and Tory get to compete in the final. When Tory is confronted by her arch nemesis Zara Malik, it looks like the troubled teen is going to fall into the same traps as before, until Robby opens up about his true feelings, and love conquers all, literally, as Tory ends up kicking Zara’s influencer ass.

Johnny’s last fight

Despite Tory and Miguel’s victories, the two rival teams end on a tie and the final of the Sekai Tekai goes down to the wire as Johnny and Sensai Wolf have to battle it out for the title.

The final brings back mixed emotions for Johnny, especially as last time he stepped onto the karate mat in the All Valley, it was when he got kicked in the face by Daniel and his life spirally out of control.

This time he has more to lose: the reputation of Cobra Kai is at stake, and his new baby. Daniel offers to become Johnny’s mentor, but when Sensei Wolf tries to psyche him out by using his insecurities against him, Daniel realises his Miyagi Do approach isn’t going to work and goes full on Cobra Kai.

The series ends with Daniel and Johnny lifting the trophy together.
