The Lincoln Lawyer's third season dropped on Netflix back in October 2024, and followed Mickey Haller defending an innocent man who had been accused of murdering Gloria Dayton, who he previously defended all the way back in season one.

But is this case the last we'll see of Mickey? Or will he back solving crimes again? Here's what we know about season four of The Lincoln Lawyer.

Has The Lincoln Lawyer been confirmed for season 4?

Good news! On 21st January 2025, The Hollywood Reporter confirmed season four of The Lincoln Lawyer has been given the green light by Netflix. Production will begin on a fourth season next month in Los Angeles.

Woohoo!

Back in October, showrunners Ted Humphrey and Dailyn Rodriguez spoke to TV Insider ahead of the release of season three, and said they were always thinking ahead when it comes to the writing of the show. Rodriguez said: "We always set up sort of the next case of the season. This one won’t quite set up the next case, but it will definitely set up the next book."

Humphrey added Michael Connelly, who wrote the original The Lincoln Lawyer book series, is potentially planning to write more novels in the series. "I think we can say this season will definitely propel us in a very exciting and personal way into a season four. Michael hints that he’s potentially working on another Lincoln Lawyer book beyond the ones that have already been published. We don’t know that for sure. Obviously, if he is working on one, we are very eager to read it," he said.

Humphrey also added they had plans for how they would adapt the rest of Connelly's novels and hinted at future seasons. "We have plans internally for how to adapt versions of all the books. If the audience keeps enjoying what we’re doing, then we will keep making the show... we would go for a potential season five and even six beyond that," he explained.

What could happen in The Lincoln Lawyer season 4?

As mentioned The Lincoln Lawyer is based on Michael Connelly's novels of the same name. So far the Netflix series has adapted three novels from the series - The Fifth Witness, The Gods of Guilt and of course The Lincoln Lawyer - but there's still four more books in the series that could be made for TV.

While announcing the show had been renewed, Netflix revealed season four will be 10 episodes long and based on the sixth book in the series by Michael Connelly, called The Law of Innocence.

The book's official synopsis reads:

"Heading home after winning his latest case, defense attorney Mickey Haller - The Lincoln Lawyer - is pulled over by the police. They open the trunk of his car to find the body of a former client.

Haller knows the law inside out. He will be charged with murder. He will have to build his case from behind bars. And the trial will be the trial of his life.

Because Mickey Haller will defend himself in court. With watertight evidence stacked against him, Haller will need every trick in the book to prove he was framed. But a not-guilty verdict isn't enough. In order to truly walk free, Haller knows he must find the real killer - that is the law of innocence..."

The cast of The Lincoln Lawyer season 4

While the cast list hasn't been confirmed, The Lincoln Lawyer doesn't exist without Manuel Garcia-Rulfo as lawyer Mickey Haller. We'd also expect the following cast members to return:

  • Becki Newton as Lorna Crane
  • Jazz Raycole as Izzy Letts
  • Angus Sampson as Cisco
  • Yaya DaCosta as Andrea Freemann
  • Neve Campbell as Maggie McPherson
  • Elliott Gould as David Siegel
