The final part of The Crown just dropped on Netflix and if you’re anything like us, you’ve already binged-watched the whole thing and might recognise one filming location.

The critically-acclaimed series follows the life and reign of Queen Elizabeth II, with this season seeing a young Prince William as he goes to university and meets his future wife, Kate Middleton.

One scene, in particular, looked super familiar to a certain film franchise many of us know and love, Harry Potter. So, were they filmed in the same place? Here’s what you need to know.

The scene in question is in episode five, ‘Willsmania’, when sees a young Prince William, played by Ed McVey, dealing with the aftermath and grief following the death of his mother, Princess Diana, played by Elizabeth Debicki.

In the episode, see William return to school following the fateful crash, which also saw Dodi Fayed – played by Khalid Abdalla – killed, and become increasingly resentful to his father, Prince Charles, played by Dominic West.

At about four minutes in, William is walking through a school corridor accompanied by his teacher, and the location is the spitting image of Durham Cathedral, a place regularly featured in the Harry Potter film franchise as a corridor of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.

While Netflix haven’t confirmed it’s the same, exact location, any Potterhead will know that it’s the same spot that we’ve seen Harry, Ron and the rest of our favourite young wizards and witches running down to get to their next potions class.

So, this basically means that Prince William and Harry Potter went to the same school, if you ask us!

The Crown is streaming on Netflix now.
