Sweet Magnolias fans have been all over the second series of the Netflix show, but they can't get over the major twist surrounding Isaac and his dad.
*Spoilers* In the ninth episode of the show, viewers find out Bill Townsend, Maddie's ex-husband and father to Ty, Kyle, and Katie, is actually also Isaac's biological father. Yep, it's a shocker.
Fans have been taking to social media to share their reaction to the moment, while also praising Chris Klein and Chris Medlin's acting skills, who play Bill and Isaac respectively.
"I had a feeling since season 1 that Peggy was Isaac’s mom……but the dad reveal??? Did not see that coming!" one person wrote. Someone else said, "I was NOT expecting HIM to be Isaac’s dad!!!!! 🤯🤯🤯 #SweetMagnolias [sic]."
A third said, "Not Bill being Isaac’s father. I did not expect that😭 #SweetMagnolias"
Sweet Magnolias screenwriter Sheryl J. Anderson recently revealed to TV Line that they had been keeping Bill and Isaac's connection under wraps from the get-go, commenting, "We made that decision in the writers’ room at the beginning of Season one.
"We knew who Isaac was when we brought him to town. We wanted to see him searching for answers, but we also wanted to use that search as a way to shed new light on the paths that other people were on."
