Season two of Netflix's Cheer is about to hit our screens, as we rejoin Navarro College's cheer team as they prep their routine for the Daytona Collegiate National Championship 2021. So, do they take home the trophy for the second year in a row?
*Spoilers for Cheer season two*
The second season of the show introduces Cheer fans to the Navarro College Cheer team's biggest virals: Trinity Valley College Cheer. Headed up by coach Vontae Johnson, viewers watch as Navarro and Trinity Valley prep and prime their routines in tandem, ahead of their biggest event of the year: the NCA & NDA Collegiate Cheer & Dance Championship in Daytona, Florida.
After taking home the trophy during season one of Cheer, fans were hoping for big things for Navarro, willing them to take home their 15th national championship in 2021.
But according to TMZ, it wasn't to be: Navarro finished the competition in 2nd place with Trinity Valley Community College taking the crown last year.
Reports say the results were super close - TVCC received a score of 98.2292, with Navarro coming in second place with a score of 98.0708 (that's a 0.1584 difference.)
As well as the ongoing rivalry between the two squads, season two of Cheer will also address the allegations and subsequent charges against Jerry Harris. In September 2020, he was arrested and charged with producing child pornography, with director Greg Whiteley telling Variety, "The series covers events as they unfolded, beginning in January 2020 through April 2021, so the charges against Jerry Harris are covered in depth in episode five.”
Harris has pleaded not guilty.
