Il nuovo singolo di Miley Cyrus è finalmente uscito. Il titolo parla da sè: “Used To Be Young” è il brano che la cantante dedica alla sé del passato e agli anni dell'adolescenza inconsapevole, sfrenata: «Questa canzone onora chi sono stati e celebra chi siamo e chi diventeremo», ha spiegato l’artista parlando del singolo scritto due anni fa che, ora, ha trovato il tempo giusto per essere pubblicato. All’interno c’è la sua vita: ciò che è stata e ciò che è ora, senza tralasciare il futuro verso cui guarda con aspirazione. «I know I used to be crazy. I know I used to be fun. You say I used to be wild. I say I used to be young», canta Cyrus.
In “Used To Be Young” si trovano tutte le versioni dell'artista, diverse, anche incoerenti tra loro. Ma vere, perchè hanno sempre rispecchiato un momento particolare della vita della cantante e attrice, oggi trentenne. Dalla versione in Hanna Montana, il cui iconico finale è stato ricordato dalla stessa protagonista nei giorni scorsi e che oggi è un video diventato virale su TikTok, alla Miley di “Wrecking Ball”, con il video rinnegato dalla stessa Cyrus: «Ci sono cose che rimangono. Dondolare nuda su una palla da demolizione è qualcosa che mi perseguiterà per sempre».
«È arrivato il momento di pubblicare una di quelle canzoni che potrei perfezionare di continuo», aveva scritto in uno dei post pubblicati a fine agosto in attesa della pubblicazione del singolo “Used To Be Young”. «Sebbene il mio lavoro sia finito, questo brano continuerà a scriversi da solo ogni singolo giorno. Il fatto che rimanga incompiuto fa parte della sua bellezza. Questa è la mia vita in questo momento. Incompiuta, ma completa».
Potrebbe essere un nuovo inizio, per la carriera musicale della cantante di “Flowers”, singolo contenuto nel suo ottavo lavoro in studio Endless Summer Vacation uscito a marzo.
