Ever since Netflix's Adolescence came out last year, we've been waiting for the next gripping drama about a troubled teenager and the BBC may have just the answer as the trailer for their new psychological thriller The Rapture has just dropped and it looks so intriguing.
The new series stars India Amarteifio, best known for leading Bridgerton spin-off Queen Charlotte, as a teenage girl who is accused of killing her mother, but swears she's innocent.

What is The Rapture about?
The Rapture is a new five-part series based on Liz Jensen's best selling novel of the same name.
Set during a heatwave, The Rapture follows Ruth Madeley as forensic psychologist Gabs Fox who starts a new job at high-security psychiatric hospital, where she meets 17-year-old patient Bethany Krall.
Bethany has been found guilty of murdering her mother, but swears she is innocent. The teenager has a troubled relationship with her father who is the leader of a religious movement.
As well as swearing she didn't kill her mother, Bethany also claims to hold psychic powers and can predict the future. Intrigued by Bethany's story, Gabs goes on an investigation of her own as to what really happened to Bethany's mum.

Who is in the cast of The Rapture?
Leading the cast of The Rapture is Ruth Madeley as psychologist Gabs, and Madeley is best known for her roles in Years and Years, Doctor Who and The War Between The Land and The Sea.
Alongside her in a main role is India Amarteifio, as Bethany, and you'll most likely recognise India for starring in Queen Charlotte as a young Queen Charlotte. She's also had roles in The Midwich Cuckoos and Line of Duty.
Also starring in the series is:
- Sam Hazeldine as Leonard Krall, Bethany's estranged father and leader of mysterious religious movement
- Iwan Rheon as Dick Carwyn, who from the trailer appears to be a friend of Gabs
- Stephen Campbell Moore as Max Leland
- Ruth Jones as Mel
