What is Cold Call about?
Cold Call is set in Manchester and stars Sally Lindsay as a hard working mum called June who is expecting her first grandchild when she gets scammed during cold call. The fraudsters end up running away with her money, leaving her without her home. And so spurred on by what happened to her, June takes it into her own hands to get her revenge.
The series was Channel 5's first ever original drama, first aired in 2019 and touched on a subject that's impacted many viewers, including the show's lead herself as Sally revealed she was targeted by a scam just before she accepted the role.
Speaking in 2019 about the series Sally said: "I got a call from what I thought was the gas board. This guy was telling me because I hadn’t paid the bill, I was going to be given a county court judgment and be cut off. Even though I knew it was paid, I was listening and half of me was believing him.
"Then the doorbell rang and there was someone at the door so I said, ‘I’ll ring you back...’ and the line went dead.”
