The heatwave might be blazing outside, but we're hiding away indoors with an ice pack on our necks and the TV on. And thankfully, the BBC have a new drama which is perfect for bringing the holiday vibes without having to apply the SPF. Described as like a "British The White Lotus", everyone is raving about Two Weeks In August.
But before you start watching it, here's everything you need to know about the show, from the actors who make up the cast, the stunning filming locations, the plot line and more.
What is Two Weeks In August about?
Er, it's kind of exactly what it says on the tin! The eight-part series follows a group of friends during a two week holiday stuffed full of secrets, simmering shared history and baking hot sunshine, all of which threatens to come to a head. There's snogging, adultery, arguments and demanding family members - but where will the drama unravel?
Where was Two Weeks In August filmed?
While the villa in the show is situated in Greece, with the country's history and mythology also playing a part in the storyline, the series was actually filmed in Malta and the Maltese island of Gozo.
Catherine Shepherd the executive producer, creator and writer of the series revealed Malta was a great stand-in for the Greek island they set the show in. "Malta is a stunningly beautiful place, which is very important to the story, because it’s about trying to find paradise - a place of escape where all worries and anxieties disappear. The island has a dramatic, rugged landscape and, like Greece, is steeped in thousands of years of ancient history; it truly has everything," she revealed.
"Filming there has been wonderful. The island is a character in its own right; it is beautiful, but a bit dangerous. When things get difficult for our characters, it won’t be there to protect them."
