Channel 5's latest psychological thriller starring some of British TV's favourite actors has finally landed.
The four-part drama dives behind-the-scenes of a daytime TV show and its presenter Lucy Logan (played by Jill Halfpenny). It follows what happens when fan Donna (Sally Lindsay) saves her from an attack and while the encounter seems well intentioned, it soon unravels into something far more sinister.
However, just because Number One Fan is set in the United Kingdom, it doesn't mean it was filmed there - the filming location is actually over 1,000 miles away.
Where was Number One Fan filmed?
Although the plot follows a British TV host, Number One Fan was filmed in Bilbao and Vitoria in Northern Spain, as reported by Cultured North East.
Bilbao is the largest city in the Basque Country in Northern Spain. Dubbed 'The City of the Guggenheim,' the Bilbao is the birthplace of the original iconic museum.
And if you fancied getting a bit of travel inspiration as well as scratching your crime drama itch with Number One Fan... Bilbao seems like the perfect place when it comes to adding a good dose of culture to your summer holidays. After all, the kids can't just stop learning on holiday, can they?
Spain's official tourism website states: "Bilbao's unique character comes from combining avant-garde with the traditional feel of its old town, full of charming streets and bars offering pintxos, proof that they are passionate about gastronomy around here."
It resolves Bilbao as being one of the country's "most interesting cities," certainly an apt match for Number One Fan's captivating storyline. And as for Vitoria?
Vitoria-Gasteiz is the capital city of the Basque Country. Where Bilbao has avant-garde buildings, Vitoria has a plethora of Gothic architecture, including the Santa María Cathedral.
Described as an under-the-radar alternative to Bilbao, Vitoria acts as the perfect background for the eerie nature of Number One Fan.
Granted, the way the locations are presented in Channel 5's latest spine-chilling drama isn't exactly appealing for a summer trip, but take our word for it, they have a lot to offer.
And if that wasn't enough inspo for your last-minute summer getaway planning - or you need more crime dramas to keep you going before Number One Fan - then how about getting stuck into A Taste for Murder?
Although, we can't promise your wallets will be safe after you see the sun-soaked locations it was filmed.
Number One Fan premieres on Channel 5 on Monday, 4th May 2026 at 9pm. It'll also be available to stream on Channel 5's catch-up service.
