You probably thought there was enough drama already in Married At First Sight Australia. Contestants navigating their journey as a couple, some letting rip across the table at dinner parties and friends and family weighing in. However, the iconic reality TV series has proven it can get even juicier after filming wraps.
The course of true love never did run smooth... Although, it gets a bit awkward when you're part of an experiment which sets you up to marry one person and then you actually decide to date another - and from the same season too.
So, who are the couples who didn't actually get paired up during the show, but went on to date each other on the outside?
All the MAFS Australia couples who went on to date after the show
Jacqui Burfoot and Clint Rice - season 12
Clint may have ranked Jacqui high in the picture challenge but we certainly didn't see this couple swap coming. Clint was originally paired with Lauren Hall and Jacqui with Ryan Donnelly. We barely saw an interaction between Clint and Jacqui on our screens, yet they confirmed their relationship at the reunion dinner party. Since the show, they've not only been dating, but are now living together and even engaged - their wedding set to take place sometime this month! Congratulations!
Ellie Dix and Jonathan 'Jono' McCullough - season 11
In the experiment, Ellie was partnered up with Ben and Jonathan to Lauren. At the reunion dinner party they confirmed they were dating, Lauren understandably very upset given Jonathan had previously reassured her he had no feelings for Ellie. The pair went on celebrate their one-year anniversary in 2024 and have been sharing loved-up snaps online ever since, including of their trip to Egypt. We guess it worked out for the best in the end?
Evelyn Ellis and Duncan James - season 10
Evelyn was originally paired with Rupert Bugden and Duncan with Alyssa Barmonde. They found a friendship on the show which later blossomed after filming wrapped. They've since gone on to move into together and embark on a joint project titled Evelyn and Duncan's Dinner Party Diaries. This month will mark their three-year anniversary together and if their Instagrams are anything to go by, they're certainly still going strong.
Carolina Santos and Daniel Holmes - season nine
Carolina and Daniel rocked the experiment when it was revealed they'd formed a secret relationship behind their partners' backs during filming. Daniel was originally matched with Jessica Seracino and Carolina with Dion Giannarelli. They later returned to the show as a new couple, walking hand-in-hand into one of the commitment ceremonies and stayed together after filming ended. However, they've since parted ways, a post to social media stating "after a wonderful 10 months together" they'd decided to transition their relationship into a friendship.
Tracey Jewel and Sean Thomsen - season five
Tracey and her original match Dean Wells ended up parting ways in what made for a brutal final commitment ceremony watch. Sean and his marriage to Blair Rachael ultimately came to an end too. Although, that didn't make it any easier when Tracey and Sean walked into the final dinner party together and later sharing a kiss with recent ex Blair left to watch on, viewers left dumbfounded. Tracey and Sean went on to date for several months after the show, but later called it quits. Tracey later told Woman's Day while she didn't regret the show, she did regret Sean. Ouch.
Carly Bowyer and Troy Delmege - season five
Yes, you read that right, there wasn't just one, but two couple swaps in season five of MAFS Australia. One of the juiciest seasons of the show to date, Troy was originally matched with Ashley Irvin and Carly with Justin Fischer. Carly and Troy went on to connect at the reunion and dated after the show for around eight months. Sadly things didn't last, Carly taking to Instagram to reveal "with a heavy heart," the pair had decided to "part ways".
Married At First Sight airs Monday to Thursday on E4.
