In news we didn't expect to be reporting on today Married at First Sight Australia's Rhi Disljenkovic and Jeff Gobbels have announced their split after nearly two years together.
The couple who originally dated a few years ago, were unintentionally reunited on last year's edition of MAFS Australia when they were matched together and married at 'first sight.'
They were the strongest couple in the experiment, but earlier today the pair shared separate statements on their Instagram Stories confirming their breakup.
In Jeff's statement he said: “After a lot of thought, unfortunately my relationship has ended. This has been an incredibly difficult time and I’m trying to navigate this as best as I can.
“I’m grateful for the memories and genuine love we shared over the years. Thank you for supporting our relationship, being part of our journey and respecting our privacy during this time.”
Rhi also shared a similar statement on her own Instagram story, writing the following: “With a heavy heart, I want to share that Jeff and I have decided to part ways. This has been one of the hardest decisions I’ve ever had to make. I’m incredibly grateful for the love we shared and all of the memories we created.
“Thank you to everyone who supported us throughout our relationship and followed along on our journey. Your kindness means more than you know, and I appreciate your respect and understanding as we move forward.”
While the pair haven't gone into details as to what caused the end of their relationship, a source told the Daily Mail the relationship had fizzled out due to a "lack of effort".
A source claimed: “Jeff was not putting in any effort with Rhi. They stopped going out on dates.”
It's understood the couple have been living apart for a few weeks and Jeff is reportedly said to be heading to the UK for work commitments.
In the last 24 hours many fans have noticed the pair had removed all traces of each other from their Instagram profiles and have also unfollowed each other on the social media platform.
Rhi and Jeff featured in the 2025 series of MAFS Australia which was filmed at the end of 2024. While most MAFS Australia couples meet for the first time on their wedding day, Jeff and Rhi were an anomaly as they had previously dated before the experiment, before their relationship fizzled out.
Though Rhi in particular was hesitant about starting their romantic relationship again in the experiment, however they soon went from strength to strength and became the unbothered and strongest couple in the series.
