Last night's viewers of Silent Witness were in for quite a surprise when they tuned into a different episode than what was scheduled in the TV guide. So, er, what actually happened? And when will see those pulled episodes?

Well, in all the TV guides last night's episode of Silent Witness was supposed to be 'The Enemy Within: Part One' and tell the story of Nikki and Jack investigating a fatal stabbing which appeared to be racially motivated.

However, when 9pm rolled around viewers instead were treated to an episode called 'Creekwood: Part One' in which they investigated the death of a man who was found with a screwdriver in his eye and the second part will be airing tonight. It's also already available on BBC iPlayer if you're impatient to find out what happened.

The official Silent Witness Instagram account addressed the change, saying: "This week’s new Silent Witness is now on @bbciplayer, in a change to the previously billed episodes."

The real reason the original episode was pulled was due to a real life incident that occurred in Birmingham, where the show is now set and filmed, over the weekend.

A spokesperson for the BBC said: "Due to the attack in Birmingham over the weekend this week’s episodes of Silent Witness will not transmit as planned and instead they have been replaced with two episodes from later on in the series.”

Two teenage boys, age 14 and 15 were attacked with a machete outside a shop in Birmingham over the weekend, and taken to hospital, with one having life-threatening injuries. A 12-year-old boy has since been arrested on suspicious of attempted murder following the attack.

According to all the TV guides, the two pulled Silent Witness episodes 'The Enemy Within' are now expected be shown next week on Tuesday and Wednesday night, in another slight schedule change.
