After captivating the nation with the civilian series, The Celebrity Traitors is coming to our screens later this year with 19 celebrities taking on the ultimate game of trust and deception.
Ahead of the series, the fee each celebrity is allegedly paid has been revealed - and the amount is quite surprising!
Confirmed for the first celebrity series is rapper Cat Burns, comedian Alan Carr, singer Paloma Faith and more.
They’ll be competing for a £100,000 prize for a charity of their choice, working either to expose all the Traitors or, if they are Traitors themselves, to eliminate the Faithfuls without being caught - all under the watchful eye of host Claudia Winkleman.
As well as this cash prize, each celeb is reportedly being paid a significant salary to take part.
On the latest episode of the podcast The Rest Is Entertainment, hosts Marina Hyde and Richard Osman discussed the fees supposedly being paid to the A-list celebrities taking part in The Celebrity Traitors.
"It’s fascinating to compare something like The Celebrity Traitors on the BBC with I’m a Celebrity on ITV," Marina noted. "We haven’t seen the celebrity version yet, but we know it’s going to be huge - just look at the calibre of talent they’ve secured."
Richard said he'd spoken to someone who had seen the first episode and they'd described it as "apparently amazing". Marina went on to share more details about the celebrity fees.
"For that, they were able to pay everybody a blanket 40k fee, right? I am spilling all my tea today. They’re paying them a £40k fee," she said.
If each celeb is being paid £40k to appear on the show, that means that at least £760,000 is being handed out in total.
This is considerably more than the £100,000 cash prize going to charity - something that has angered fans, with one writing: "They should be doing it for free; they are paid enough already."
The reported fees are much lower than the salaries paid to contestants on I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here, however.
In 2024, it was reported that Coleen Rooney secured the highest paycheck for entering the jungle, earning a reported £1.5 million.
Former professional boxer Barry McGuigan is said to have received £500,000 for his appearance, while Harry Redknapp, who was crowned King of the Jungle in 2018, was reportedly paid the same fee.
The Celebrity Traitors will air on BBC One later this year.
