Love Island's Ekin-Su has broken her silence on her ex Georges Berthonneau, who claimed they agreed that she could go on Love Island: All Stars back in January to further her career, but she betrayed him by getting into a relationship with Curtis Pritchard.
Speaking exclusively to Cosmopolitan UK, Ekin-Su says she "regrets" not standing her ground on cutting ties with Georges, who appeared on the 2023 season of Married At First Sight UK.
"I have heard some exaggerated things, and it's sad, because this is someone I got to know during a really dark time in my life. It was after Celebrity Big Brother and I was healing from a public breakup with Davide [Sanclimenti]. He knew that and and I thought, at the very least, we created a good friendship from that," the 30-year-old reality TV star explained.
While she made clear that she doesn't want to give the situation with Georges too much "attention" she added: "The only thing I regret is not having stood my ground on cutting ties, but when you are made to feel like they understand and would be fine with whatever happens... I mean, it's a dating show, come on, like I'm always open to finding the one."
In April, Georges revealed that he'd been in a 10-month relationship with Ekin-Su, alleging he was still with her when she went on Love Island: All Stars.
He told The Mail Online, that he and Ekin had planned a future together and holidayed in France during the summer and spent Boxing Day exchanging gifts, just 18 days before she entered the South African villa.
He says they agreed that she would go no further "than kissing" while on the show, but he found himself living in a "nightmare" when she got with Curtis, who she went on to date for three months before splitting in May.
"We were boyfriend and girlfriend from April last year. We were with each other. We spent Boxing Day together," Georges said.
"She spent time with my family, she came to family events, she met my nephews, sister-in-law, uncles, everyone. I met her mum a couple of times and her brother."
He continued: "We said we loved each other after six weeks of dating... I fell in love with the girl. She used to call me Bear and I called her Olive because of her olive skin and that's one of her last messages to me, 'I love you, my Bear.'
"It was a super, super intense and intimate relationship... We had a lot of intimacy, we were very close, and physically and emotionally we showed each other such love, but she threw everything we had away for her TV romance with Curtis Pritchard."
Georges claims Ekin only reached out to him a week after the final - at which point he called things off, saying: "I can't be with someone who has another boyfriend."
At the time, a rep for Ekin said: "Ekin was upfront with Georges about her intention to pursue a new relationship on Love Island."
And Ekin-Su insists that her relationship with Georges wasn't serious, telling us: "There's a reason why that never was officially anything to begin with, and I won't stoop low. All I can say about him is I wish him well, and I hope he finds happiness. That's it."
Well we guess that's that then.
