Jack Thorne, the creator of Netflix's Adolescence, is one busy guy, not only is he working on the new Enola Holmes film, he's also writing an adaptation of Lord of the Flies and now the first look at his new project Falling for Channel 4 has just been revealed and we can already tell we're going to love this new drama. Curious to know more about this new series? Here's what you need to know.

What is Falling about?

Falling is Jack Thorne's first ever love story and is an exploration of the relationship between Anna, a devoted nun and David, a Catholic priest.

Channel 4 describes the new drama as "witty, moving, [and] contemporary" which sees both Anna and David as two deeply religious figures committed to the church, but neither of whom expected to fall in love. They then must wrestle with how they approach these difficult feelings and their devotion to God.

Speaking about creating his first love story, Thorne said of the project: "I never thought I’d write a love story, but I am very excited to be making one with the brilliant Peter Hoar."

The series will be directed by Peter Hoar and feature six hour long episodes.

Drum roll please...playing the role of Anna the nun is Keeley Hawes. Hawes has been an iconic figure on our screens for years with lead roles in series such as The Bodyguard, Line of Duty and It's a Sin. Speaking about their new roles, Hawes said: "I’m thrilled to be taking on the role of Anna and so looking forward to working alongside the brilliant Paapa Essiedu to bring Jack Thorne’s beautiful scripts to life."

As for Essiedu he said: "Falling is a story that has Jack Thorne’s singular talent of mining the sublime out of the ordinary running all the way through. I can’t wait to work with Keeley, Peter and the rest of the team to bring this world to life."

The cast will also include Rakie Ayola, Jason Watkins, Niamh Cusack, Adrian Scarborough, David Dawson, Susan Brown, Sandra Voe, Holly Rhys and Shayde Sinclair.
