The Idol has pretty much everyone on the internet talking and they're all saying the same thing. The new series by Euphoria creator Sam Levinson follows Jocelyn, played by Lily-Rose Depp, a pop star who gets into a complicated relationship with cult leader, Tedros, played by The Weeknd.
The series has caused a stir online since it was first announced, from the original director leaving the project, to rewrites and reshoots, and now fans are sharing their confused reactions to the show's plot on Twitter.
"Watching The Idol and I’m trying to figure out what’s going on. It’s just a hyper sexual pop star having a crisis and smoking cigs," said one viewer.
"Did y’all watch The Idol? Am I the only one still confused? LOL," wrote another.
Whilst some viewers have been enjoying the series, others were pretty confused by the amount of sexual scenes in the series, too. "The Idol was absolute trash, sex scenes that are unnecessary and unrealistic. No storyline. Just nasty," one person wrote.
"Me during all the sex scenes on The Idol," another said whilst sharing a gif of someone covering their eyes.
Another viewer compared a hilarious skit of actor Rachel Sennott, who features in the series, to plot of The Idol and it was too funny. "Every single new thing that I learn about The Idol more it seems like the show is this Rachel Sennott video," they wrote.
So, what is the actual plot of The Idol? The series focuses on Jocelyn, a pop idol who had a nervous breakdown that caused the cancellation of her last tour. She wants to return to the spotlight bigger and better than ever, and begins a pretty complicated relationship with Tedros, a self-help guru and cult leader.
The Idol is available to watch on Sky Atlantic and NOW TV.
