You’d be forgiven for thinking that Elizabeth Arden was just for more... mature skin. After all, the brand, founded in 1910, has been a mainstay in many boomers and Gen X’s skincare routines for decades. And rightfully so – its products feature some major formulas that help to preserve a youthful glow all over.
But I promise you, the products are so good for younger skin too. You know what they say, prevention is better than cure and to retain any hint of youthful glowiness we need stellar formulas, right? Enter - Elizabeth Arden. Oh, and they offer way more than just their 8 Hour Cream and retinol capsules, yep, the brand has one my favourite lipstick formulas too, an oil that can be used hair-to-toe and Elizabeth Arden perfumes should also not be slept on. Here's what you need to try, below...
Best Elizabeth Arden products
Elizabeth Arden Prevage City Smart Broad Spectrum SPF50 Hydrating Shield
Many beauty pros see this hybrid chemical and physical SPF as the crème de la crème of sun protection (btw, chemical SPF absorb and diffuse UV rays before they cause damage, while physical ones create a shield on the skin). The antioxidant idebenone helps to prevent collagen damage caused by pesky pollutants in the air. We love a hard-working product.
Elizabeth Arden Lip Colour Lipstick – Matte
Famous for its vibrant red door logo, of course Elizabeth Arden is going to do banging red lipsticks. Say buh-bye to uncomfy drying mattes as these glide on easily, pack a pigment punch and stick around for hours before needing a top-up. My only wish is that they sold matching liners – if anyone from the brand is reading…
Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream All-Over Miracle Oil
Who doesn’t rate a multitasker? This oil is a gem that nourishes your face and body. I know, it sounds too good to be true, right? Promise, it’s not. I’ve used it on every bit of my skin, but my preference is applying it to my dry AF hair. It contains tsubaki oil, which adds layers of lustre and shine to my coils.
Elizabeth Arden Green Tea perfume
As a glutton for a green tea scent (hello, Le Labo Thé Noir!!) this retro scent was a real sneak attack on my fragrance collection. With the base notes including musk and amber it has depth but thanks to the greenery through the middle of the scent – we're talking peppermint, fennel, celery and ofc green tea – this perfume is really crisp and energising. The nose behind it is Francis Kurkdjian – yes as in THEE Francis Kurkdjian behind boujee Baccarat Rouge, but this scent from him is a snip of the price.
Elizabeth Arden Grand Entrance Mascara
This mascara flies too far under the radar for my liking. It gives that wispy, natural-but-amplified look. The formula is water-resistant but not waterproof, so while it’s safe to wear to your BFF’s wedding, it’s not going to take too much scrubbing to come off after a night out.
Elizabeth Arden Retinol + HPR Ceramide Rapid Skin Renewing Water Cream
If you haven’t already, it’s time to introduce retinol into your routine – and you’d be hard-pressed to find one as gentle yet effective as this. HPR stands for high-performance retinol, which is slow-releasing, so you benefit from immediate action from one retinol, on top of the sustained work taking place to renew skin cells.
Elizabeth Arden Retinol + HPR Ceramide Capsules Rapid Skin Renewing Serum - 30 Capsules
Perfect for travel, these capsules are hard-working yet gentle (just like me). A great alternative to you the above cream if you prefer applying retinol as a serum and then loading on a moisturiser on top. And yes, this is a retinol serum you can bring on your summer hols for your nighttime routine, just make sure you're applying (and reapplying) your SPF.
Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream
First things first, this is 100% not a cream. This is the originator of nourishing skin balms and, for me, a true hand-luggage warrior. On flights, I practically baste myself in it to stop drying out like a raisin due to the cabin air. If you’ve got dry skin, meet your ultimate salve saviour.
Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream Hydrating Body Lotion
Prefer your body moisturisers on the lighter side? Add this to your next beauty shop, especially in the lead-up to summer. It’s hydrating but lightweight and has a delicate scent that lets my perfume sing. Also, with the amount you get in a bottle (380ml), it’s lasted me a good two seasons.
