10 best toner pads to achieve glowing skin in 2026 – tried and tested

A trip to the skincare mecca, South Korea, ignited my new obsession

toner pads

As a lover of Korean skincare, I pride myself on having intimate knowledge of all things K-beauty (I tried the viral CosRX Snail Mucin way before it blew up on TikTok, for example.) So, when I went to Seoul for a business trip, I didn’t think I’d come across any skincare trends I wasn’t already familiar with. Unbeknownst to me, there was something I wasn’t totally in on just yet: the current wave of best toner pads taking over K-Beauty.

As soon as I stepped into OliveYoung (basically like South Korea’s version of Boots), I couldn’t help but notice the walls and walls of toner pads – and tonnes of dewy-faced shoppers throwing them into their shopping baskets. It quickly became clear that toner pads are one of the biggest skincare trends right now, with brands and shoppers alike treating them as a fast-track step to clearer, glowier skin.

So I tested a tonne of toner pads. And now? I have thoughts to share with you. Keep reading for everything you need to know about the toner pad revolution, plus, my favourites I’ve been using.

The best toner pads in 2026, at a glance

What are toner pads?

When we think of toner pads in the UK, we picture a convenient lil tub of pre-soaked cotton pads to exfoliate the hell outta our faces. But in South Korea, toner pads are more like small, targeted sheet masks that people use in different areas of their face. Supposedly, people will wear toner pads on the street – just like we do here with pimple patches.

They are just cotton pads that are pre-soaked in a toner solution that you can quickly grab from a tub and swipe all over your face (or dab on as a spot treatment or as a mask – read on for more uses).

What are the benefits of toner pads?

Toner pads come in about a bajillion varieties depending on your skin type and goals. If you want to exfoliate and smooth uneven skin texture, opt for toner pads that contain gentle acids like PHAs and AHAs to softly sweep away dead skin cells. If you’re looking to clear acne, many pads are soaked in salicylic acid to decongest clogged pores. And if overall hydration and brightening is your main priority, many next-gen pads feature ingredients like PDRN, hyaluronic acid and even matcha to soothe and plump.

How you use the pads will also offer different benefits; you can gently sweep them over your skin to quickly remove impurities, or you can leave them on as a sheet mask allowing all the hydrating and active ingredients to penetrate your skin. Many are also dual-sided, so on one side you can use the pad to lightly exfoliate while the other smooth side soothes.

From TirTir to Medicube, lets get into my favourite toner pads I’ve tested in 2026.

I picked up the Medicube pads after suffering a gnarly travel breakout upon my arrival in Asia, and by the time I left, my skin was back to its usual state with all of my zits healing.

These pads are filled with AHA to help seriously exfoliate both the top layer of my skin to make my face feel smoother, while BHA goes into my pores to help clear out oil and dirt that gets clogged and causes breakouts.

I really love swiping these all over my face in the mornings (followed by sunscreen, ofc). I legit feel like my skin starts to look better as the day goes on – it’s kinda magic.

“As soon as this tub landed on my desk, I added it straight to my ‘to try’ collection. It’s packed with ingredients designed to hydrate, soothe and support the skin barrier, making it ideal for sensitive or temperamental skin. The solution is infused with Matcha-PDRN, niacinamide and Centella Asiatica – so let’s break that down.

PDRN traditionally comes from salmon DNA, with skincare obsessives using it in pursuit of smooth, firm skin. So yes, technically you’re applying a bit of salmon-derived ingredient to your face.

But for those who’d rather avoid that (fair), many brands now use vegan alternatives – in this case, matcha, which delivers antioxidant-rich soothing benefits to calm redness. They’re also incredibly refreshing, especially on groggy mornings when my skin needs a quick pick-me-up,” – Clare Stephenson, Senior Fashion and Beauty Ecommerce Writer

“These pads are really here to show off. Formulated with three types of exfoliating acids – AHA, BHA and PHA – the textured pads gently sweep away dead skin cells, refine the appearance of pores and deliver that coveted glass-like glow.

I can vouch for them too. I use them in my evening routine post-cleanse, sweeping them gently over the skin, and have noticed a visible reduction in redness and pigmentation marks. Overall, my complexion looks far healthier and more radiant, and I put that down to these little bbs.

Despite being hard-working on the exfoliation front, they’re also balanced with soothing rose water, so they never feel abrasive. Even with their slightly bumpy texture, they always leave my skin feeling clean and refreshed,” – Clare Stephenson, Senior Fashion and Beauty Ecommerce Writer.

“A solid pick for literally anyone – well, anyone who wants hydrated, glowy and plump skin. And who doesn’t want that? I use these daily, near enough, pressing them onto freshly-cleansed skin and leaving them to soak for about five minutes. Cleverly they are slightly curved so I can comfortably sit them under the my eyes or across the forehead.

They’re packed with PDRN from prickly pear (yes, vegan friendly) and 5% Centella Asiatica, so they’re super soothing and hydrating. I pick these up alll the time when my skin needs a refresh, but I recently took them on a trip to Barbados and found them especially useful for post-sun calming,” – Clare Stephenson, Senior Fashion and Beauty Ecommerce Writer.

ICYDK, glycolic acid is one of the best AHA ingredients used to exfoliate the skin. As a result of its use, cell turnover is increased which reduces the look of lines and wrinkles and contributes to improving the overall appearance of pigmentation.

This all-in-one pad is soothing, exfoliating, and hydrating, so if you really don’t know which one to try, opt for this. PHA is the lightest exfoliating acid, so it gently buffs away dry and dead skin, making it fab for anyone with sensitive skin who also wants to clear acne, reduce hyperpigmentation, and/or smooth texture.

The pad itself is also double-sided: one smooth side that lays flat if you decide to stick it on as a spot treatment or mask and one textured side that helps physically exfoliate as well.

My forehead is prone to itsy bitsy bumps (my opp, fr), so I asked the shop assistant at Olive Young in Seoul which toner pad was the most popular for skin texture. They immediately pointed to this one, which was almost completely sold out, BTW.

It helps clear pores with salicylic acid while gently sloughing away dead skin with PHA. I just stuck it to my forehead for about five minutes, then swiped the excess over the rest of my skin. I can attest that it definitely makes my skin look and feel more even and fresh.

How do you use toner pads?

In the Western world, toner pads have always been a thing but mostly only as a convenient method to apply your toner. K-beauty toner pads are unique in that they work in a few different ways, including:

As a toner: The most obvious way to use a toner pad, grab a sheet out of the jar and swipe it across your skin, just as you would a toner you dripped onto a cotton pad. This is great for travelling when you don’t want to bring a big ol’ bottle of liquid or when you’re feeling a lil lazy.

As a spot treatment: Whenever you have a spot of irritation, a pimple, or a specific fine line you wanna target, stick the toner pad against it as a quick spot treatment for 5 to 10 minutes. These sheets are usually thin enough that they’ll stay on your face while you potter about.

As a sheet mask: Instead of putting on a full-face sheet mask, you can adhere a few toner pads across your face. It is a bit more comfortable to wear for long periods of time and sticks on much better than a standard sheet mask, IMO. You can also mix and match different toner pads if you have varying skin concerns across your face.

How we tested the best toner pads:

At Cosmopolitan, we take testing products very seriously, ensuring we include a range of skin types and concerns in the reviewing process. So you know every toner pad featured in this article has been tested my myself or another member of the Cosmo beauty team. We put a range of best-selling, repeatable toner-pad brands to the test, analysing everything from ease of use and ingredient lists to visible results and how they feel on the skin.

Each brand was tested over the course of a week, with some used as leave-on pads and others as traditional swipe-on pads. We also considered how well they layered with other skincare, whether they caused any irritation, and whether they delivered on glow, hydration and clarity claims.
