Over the past few weeks, Married At First Sight Australia has not only dominated British households with nightly TV viewings, but our social media feeds, too; From controversial TikTok videos (Eliot's angels I'm looking @ you) to partner swap romance rumours, the content just keeps on coming.
In the beauty department, however, it's the girlies who are dominating – and most recently, Awhina Rutene with a major hair transformation that has fans stunned. In other words, she's only gone and ditched her long blonde hair for a darker look!
On the show (which was filmed July – October 2024), Awhina is known for having long blonde waves, but as of March 2025 – per an Instagram video shared by Australian hair salon, Scissor and Stone – the 30-year-old has revamped her look. "What do you want to do today?" Awhina's hairstylist asks in the vid, to which she responds: "I'm kind of wanting to go darker just because my hair is so dead at the moment."

To ease Awhina into the realms of brunette hair, her hairdresser recommends a "darker blend with a little bit of blonde through the ends".
"We are putting your hair in full rehab mode, so we're going to be working back your health over the next six months," she continues.

Showing that she is all for the makeover, Awhina says: "I need to heal my soul and my hair." Relatable, much?
Everyone's clicking on...
In the comments section, fans unite over the opinion that Awhina's hair looks great; one person writes: "This is her best hair look." On the other hand, others think that she should have gone for an even darker colour; "Omg darker would have been so good!!!"
Though, as Awhina's hairdresser responds: "the plan is to go darker over time 🙌." Slowly but surely, folks! After all, dyeing hair with minimal damage is a lengthy process.
So, with that in mind, we can only look forward to more transformations in the near future. We'll be keeping our eyes peeled...
