When scrolling through my morning's Instagram feed to keep up to date with all that's going on in celeb world, as you do, I was inundated with selfies galore. But one that made me do a double take for its creativity came from the world-famous supermodel herself, Gigi Hadid.
And I know what you're thinking (read: predicting) – a full-face glam or perhaps a bleached 'brow is what's on the today's menu. And to that, I say: well, actually, it is not! Instead, Gigi is gracing the cover of the Vogue Netherlands March 2023 issue – and she also happens to be debuting a major hair transformation.
In actual fact, the star and publication shared four different covers but the one that stood out to us most? Why the edition featuring her 'Astro Boy'-esque dark brunette pixie cut, of course! I think it's safe to say it's a dramatic departure and far cry from her signature blonde locks.
As mentioned, at first glance, this hair look was giving me major 'Astro Boy' vibes – though, maybe that's thanks to the current hype surrounding MSCHF's viral boots. Alas, having taken a glance (and a quick once over with Google Translate) at the caption of the IG post, I've come to realise that the entire ensemble (face stickers 'n' all) was actually inspired by Efteling, a famous theme park in the Netherlands.
Explaining the inspo behind the look, the caption states that while deciding on the looks, Gigi had an important addition: "Something about the Efteling, please. When I'm there, I immediately get back that feeling of happiness that I also had as a child”.
Known for his wondrous creations, there was to be only one man for the job; enter: celebrity hairstylist Panos Papandrianos.
Everyone's clicking on...
It's all about sculptural architecture-meets-the art of hair.
After all, art is everywhere and this is a prime example of that – demonstrating how it can contribute to and facilitate creative ideas within beauty. Now, IDK about you but I'm feeling v inspired. Carpe diem one and all!
