We should have known a hair trend was afoot when the universe briefly paused mid-breath last month to let Victoria Beckham debut her buttercream blonde era. The transformation was the epitome of soft-focus luxury defined by creamy, sunlit highlights.

Fast forward to the 2026 Met Gala – where time is a social construct, sleep is merely a thing of the past, and Madonna stepped out channelling Chitty Chitty Bang Bang's Child Catcher (in the best way possible) – and Victoria's new blonde hair colour has only gone and made its way onto another A-lister's head: fellow singing legend, Cher.

As the pap snaps below show, the pop oracle has followed in VB's footsteps, ditching her trademark long raven tresses for a mid-length creamy blonde ripple.

Unlike Victoria's understated highlights, Cher has gone full balls bleach to the wall with an almost root-to-tip blonde transformation. And we say 'almost' because there's a deliberate shadow root, making for less of a stark finish and more of a lived-in gradient.

And of course, going blonde for spring/summer is so on-season, it's practically written into the weather forecast! Sunshine outside = sunshine on your head.

Victoria Beckham may have started the trend, as she so often does, but it doesn't end with Cher. The shared language of buttercream blonde is only just beginning...
