Kate Hudson never stops showing us there's always a new way to do blonde. It really doesn't gets boring. Her latest look for the Critics Choice Awards on Sunday (15 January) went all out with length and colour – and the resulting waterfall of platinum can only be described as delicious.
Styled by hairstylist Lona Maria Vigi and coloured by expert Matt Rez, her tressed almost become one with her stunning pale gold gown.
Skimming down toward her hips, the colour moves from a long ashy natural root, through to a soft blonde with some subtle warmth to it, and down to almost white blonde tips, in a perfectly mastered gradient effect.
Carefully placed, face-framing layers accentuate and focus on her exquisite bone structure, while the darker hue at the top creates depth around her pale green eyes, which were painted by the artful Tonya Brewer.
Gradient hair is a genius way of wearing the palest blonde tones without the harsh effects the hue can have around the face, allowing for a more forgiving tone higher up to compliment the complexion.
Similarly, by giving the hair some choppy shape at the front, then keeping it straight as it falls down the back, Lona has allowed Matt's gradient colour work to shine, while giving Kate flattering structure around the face.
Everyone's clicking on...
Combined with the dress, the final effect is one of shimmering, ethereal elegance that just sings with Kate's uniquely beautiful face. I love it when a plan comes together.
