It could be the quarter-life crisis talking, but hair was just better back in the 90s. It seems Katy Perry thinks this too, as she was spotted bringing back, arguably the best up-do of the era: space buns.
We know by now (having learnt the hard way) that we still can't handle the responsibility of keeping a Tamagotchi alive, but that doesn't stop us from reviving the key hairstyles from the decade.
The singer was seen sporting the nostalgic hairdo in Japan for the True Colors Festival over the weekend. We can thank hair stylist, Rick Henry, for the trip down memory lane, who paired the mini buns with Katy's signature cascading waves. What can we say, space buns are for grown ups too.
That alone was enough, but Katy's glam squad took it one step further by pairing the throwback hair with some neon pink eyeliner – SO good. The sharper-than-life fluorescent cat eye was carved by her go-to makeup artist, Michael Anthony. It's essentially Barbiecore meets the 90s in one makeup look. We almost can't cope.
It's not the first time that the singer's enviable jet-black hair has been on our radar this month. Just a few weeks ago, Katy's soft waves (paired with a noughties-inspired denim gown, we might add) left fans questioning whether her and Megan Fox were somehow related. Identical twins separated at birth, anyone?
Either way, it's transporting us back to Y2K and we're loving it. Who guessed we'd ever be saying that?
