If you’ve opened TikTok recently, you’ll have no doubt come across some type of ‘clean girl aesthetic’ video during a scrolling sesh. One of those leading the charge is Hailey Bieber. The model has been sharing loads of skincare and makeup tutorials on the social media platform recently as she gears up to launch her much-anticipated beauty brand Rhode (dropping in the U.S. today, in case you wondered!). And along the way, everybody can’t get enough of her glazed doughnut skin. Us included. But now, Hailey is taking her glazed doughnut status to the next level.
Posting a new series of pictures on Instagram for a Tiffany & Co. ad (I know, very casual), Hailey is sporting a low-cut black blazer, red nails and, of course, a ton of jewellery. As for makeup, the model has her signature fluffy brow, fresh skin and a dewy, wet-look eye – but we couldn’t help but notice that Hails is rocking highlighter on a very random body part: her ears.
Yep, her ears are super glowy in the pictures and match her glossy eyelids, leading us to believe that some type of highlighter product has been used on her lobes. I won’t lie, at first glance, I was a bit like whuuuut?! And mayyy have even rolled my eyes a bit because I don’t think I can keep up with all the new contour/highlighter/blusher placement I see every time I open social media. But it turns out, highlighting your ears isn’t actually something that’s new.
Makeup artists have long been shining a literal spotlight on models’ ears with highlighter and even metallic paint for runway shows. If you’re going to be applying highlighter to your cheeks, nose, brow bone and chest – why not sweep some on your ears, I guess? After all, the point isn’t to change the appearance of your ears, either, but more to give an extra bit of glow to your overall look.
Personally, my oily skin + highlighter in this heat is a big no-no, but if you’re considering giving it a go, I suggest opting for a powder highlighter that you can dust on, rather than a gel or cream formula. Otherwise, things could get a bit… messy.
