Madonna is the Queen of pop, there's no denying it. And with her reign lasting nearly 40 years (and counting), there comes an abundance of incredible hair and makeup looks. From the iconic Marilyn Monroe-inspired 'do in her Material Girl music video to the platinum blonde ponytail she wore for the Blond Ambition World Tour in 1990, she has dominated the industry with infamous pop culture moments.

And that is probably why Madonna is considered one of the most influential figures in mass mainstream history. Other than the fact that she is also an actor, author, fashion designer, and director... wow.

But, the one thing that is a constant in many of Vogue singer's looks is the colour of her locks. Yes, she's switched up the style plenty of times (as one does), but when it comes to the colour, she tends to stick within the realms of blonde. Who can blame her? It's a trademark look, after all.

However, in a recent Instagram post by Madonna's makeup artist, Anthony H. Nguyen, the star is rocking her classic bleach blonde hair – but with a darker root. Her hairstylist Andy Lecompte styled it in gorgeous mermaid wavesthe spring/summer 2022 hairstyle.

Now, if you're a natural brunette who colours their hair blonde, you'll know how difficult the upkeep is. And not only that, but if you're going to a salon to get your hair bleached, it can be hella spenny, let me tell you.

One way to combat that, which is demonstrated by Madonna here, whilst also living your desired blonde fantasy, is to go for the shadow root technique. This involves keeping your roots their natural colour and blending into the dyed ends. Dua Lipa even rocked the edgy look at the 2022 Grammy Awards.

Everyone's clicking on...

If it works for Madonna and Dua, I guess it can work for us, right?
