It’s no secret that many celebrities (and if you're inclined, us regular folk) are prone to using a filter or two on Instagram, whether that be adjusting the brightness or adding some saturation. And while there’s nothing wrong with touching up a picture if you choose to, the lines can often get blurred (see what I did there) between reality and our edited reality, hence the discourse around social media being fake.
Which is why it's SO refreshing to see Gigi Hadid share an unfiltered Instagram post, where she is showing her natural skin texture. The model’s selfie has been taken while basking in the natural Italian sunshine, where she is currently residing for Milan Fashion Week. And although the glamour of this is, unfortunately, not so relatable, the pores she embraces most definitely are.
Of course, we can’t forget that Gigi Hadid is a world-renowned model and has access to some of the best skincare around. But needless to say, she is a real human being with real human being skin.
Pores, blackheads, and blemishes are the bane of my existence, and I think I can speak for many of us when I say Gigi’s snap made me feel... well, normal. Because pores are normal, people!
I have to add that, she is glowing. The minimal makeup, coral lip, and dewy skin? Such a dream. Drop us the name of that highlighter, Gigi.
So next time you feel yourself hung up over something like pores, don't be. We all have them. As a mean girl once said: “my pores are huge”. Mine, too, Regina George. Mine, too.
