While some of us are in the privileged position of working from home during these scary times, I think we can all agree that living in lockdown isn't easy for anyone.
Which is why James Charles is facing criticism from fans after they fear he broke lockdown rules to film a YouTube collab video with RuPaul Drag Race contestant, Trixie Mattel.
After appearing as a guest judge on James' new Instant Influencer series, Trixie and James filmed a video together transforming themselves into drag.
While their makeup was undoubtedly snatched, it was a comment that Trixie made that left fans on Reddit concerned.
At the 10.16 minute mark, Trixie says:
"You know what the tea of quarantine is? I've been doing the YouTube videos and filming with Katya and it's really an odd feeling to get in drag and not leave your house.
Everyone's clicking on...
"Yesterday I had to film during the day and stream at night and I was sitting in full drag at my kitchen room dining table eating a salad like a normal person, I felt like a sim."
While Trixie's comments make it sound like the video was filmed during the stay at home order, rather than being recorded in advance, or afterwards as lockdown gradually lifts in California. We don't know for sure, and neither James, or Trixie have confirmed or denied.
However that did not stop fans on the Beauty Guru Reddit thread going in on both influencers, criticising them for allegedly breaking the rules.
"It’s actually disgusting to me. They can do whatever they want, but tell us “normal people” to stay home on a daily basis," wrote one user.
Another wrote, "Sorry if this comes off as extremely rude, and I don’t live in the US. I’m extremely grateful and lucky to live in a country were Covid has been flattened out quite a bit, but I really don’t understand how/why the people in the US aren’t being more concerned about their safety and social distancing? Are they unaware of the number of cases and deaths the us has?"
"There are drag queens who have been able to do shows and collaborate on projects while IN THEIR HOMES, apart from each other. There is no excuse for this f**kery. Host a Zoom/Webx, whatever and record your screen. This content is not that important, folks," added another.
