Of all the M.A.C collections to come in 2018, none are as highly-anticipated as the one inspired by music icon Aaliyah. Since it was first announced in August 2017, fans have been eagerly waiting any and all details. Now, we finally have a launch date.
Aaliyah for M.A.C is officially dropping on 20th June online and 21st June in stores, according to a tweet response from the brand to a fan:
M.A.C also recently announced a casting call to create an "A-Z of Aaliyah" short film tied to the launch. To participate, fans just have to post a video or photo showing how Aaliyah inspired them using the hashtags #AtoZofAaliyah and #AaliyahforMAC.
The Aaliyah for M.A.C collection, like the M.A.C x Selena collection, started out as a fan-driven change.org petition that was eventually endorsed by her brother, Rashad Haughton, her friend Missy Elliot, and her makeup artist Eric Ferrell. 26,200 supporters signed the petition.
Aaliyah's favorite M.A.C products were reportedly the lipsticks in Chelsea (brick red) and Cherish (pink-beige), lipliner in Chestnut (chocolate brown), and eyeshadow in Espresso (dark brown). The first product revealed is a lipstick with a coffee shade very much in line with her beloved palette:
And now the brand has revealed an eye shadow palette from the collection:
