When it feels like there's nothing left to watch on terrestrial TV, Netflix is your best friend. The streaming service has an endless list of dramas, reality TV and hit films to sink your teeth into (we can't wait for Heartstopper Forever), as well as a whole back catalogue of incredible shows available on demand.

One of which is arguably Gillian Anderson's best work - and no, we're not talking about Sex Education. The actress starred in The Fall back in 2013, alongside Jamie Dornan, and it's one of the highest rated crime thrillers around.

If you've never seen it before, be quick! You've only got a few weeks to binge it before it leaves Netflix. Here's everything you need to know before you watch The Fall, from what it's about, to who's in it, and when it leaves the streaming platform.

What is The Fall about?

The Fall is the ultimate cat-and-mouse thriller, following Detective Superintendent Stella Gibson (played by Gillian Anderson), who is brought into an investigation trying to catch a serial killer in Belfast, played by Jamie Dornan. His character, Paul Spector, is leading the ultimate double life, hiding behind the facade of a family man who stalks vulnerable women at night.

As the BBC synopsis summarises, The Fall is a "crime drama series set in Northern Ireland. When a murder in Belfast remains unsolved after 28 days, DSI Stella Gibson is called in to review the case." The story follows "the intertwined lives of two hunters - a serial killer hidden in plain sight and the detective desperate to catch him."
