Big Brother is a show about people living in a house together and competing in games and doing sneaky strategizing until one of them is left standing at the end with the $750,000 prize. But, ever since it began back in 2000, Big Brother has also been a show about showmances. (That’s show romances, obviously.) After all, everyone is stuck living under one roof, so they become close really fast. And while sometimes that means lifelong friendships are born, sometimes it means...other activities go on. In front of the cameras.
Which brings us to our first showmance of season 28: Lyric Medeiros and Jack “Rome” Seymour. The current season only premiered on July 9, but only a couple of days in, these two were making it clear that they were into each other. And now, something that Lyric said was caught by fans on the live feeds and will be remembered as one of the scandalous moments of the season. Let’s talk about it! Starting with...
Who is Lyric?
Lyric is an attorney/singer from Honolulu, Hawaii. She’s the daughter of singer Glenn Medeiros, who had a big hit in the 1980s with “Nothing’s Gonna Change My Love for You.”
Big Brother is not Lyric’s first time on reality TV. She previously appeared on season 21 of American Idol in 2023. While she made it through the auditions, she was sent home during the first round. (Her audition was kind of a dramatic one, btw. The judges really pushed her to give her performance some more attitude.) These days, Lyric shows off her singing at a luau show every week, as she told CBS (via Parade).
She told CBS in a pre-show interview that she would be part of a showmance, if it didn’t affect her gameplay. “I know watching Big Brother, if you’re in a showmance, sometimes it can mean a huge target,” the 25-year-old said. “So if this gorgeous man is not going to ruin my game, we can work something out.”
Who is Rome?
From a singing lawyer to a pickleball instructor. Rome is a pickleball coach from Michigan, who currently lives in Delray Beach, Florida. And his real name isn’t Rome. The 28-year-old told CBS that his real name is Jack, but his “best friends have been calling me Rome since before I can even remember.”
Rome also told CBS that he was open to a showmance. “I’ve been single for a long time now, and it’s hard finding love in the real world. So why not do it in the house?” he said.
How did their showmance kick off?
They basically just got really flirty, really fast. As reported by Swooon, Lyric called Rome a “hottie” and he called her “so cute,” and they even pondered whether they could actually date in the real world. Soon, there was a lot of cuddling and kissing.
What was Lyric caught saying on the live-feed cameras?
As reported by The Sun, a moment between Lyric and Rome was caught on the live feeds that did not make it to TV. While Rome lies on a bed, Lyric can be seen sitting up. In a clip shared by the publication, she says, “Oh my god. Are we going to make noise? What are we doing? I need to have sex.” Big Brother fans on X note that the feed then cut to something else.
While those watching on TV didn’t get to see this exchange, Lyric did allude to the moment in a confessional during last Sunday’s episode. “Lyric, what are you doing?” she said. “You’re stronger than this. Also, my grandparents are watching this!”
And then, just a few nights later, she and Rome were at it again...
Hopefully your grandparents aren’t watching the live feeds, girl!
