Good news: Married at First Sight is back on Peacock for season 20, following a record seven (!!) couples as they make the ultimate commitment sight unseen. The premiere episode saw the first three couples—Felipe Cruz and Tori Dahl, BelleJolie Force and Mecca Amen, and Marissa Meyer and Adam Dehmlow—tie the knot, but things ended on a bit of a cliffhanger as it was revealed that Marissa and Adam had actually already met.
Back in January 2026, the @mafsfan Instagram account spilled the beans on this prior connection, writing, “This couple previously knew each other prior to getting married at first sight!!!” But how did they meet, you ask? Fans will find out when the next episode airs on July 16—but if you just can’t wait until then, I’ve got the (reported) scoop.
According to a @mafsfan insider, Marissa and Adam “didn’t know each other well but Marissa had seen him in the bars in Ballard. He allegedly used to be a partier but now claims he is into clean living. This will be a big part of their storyline.”
As a reminder: Before he walked down the aisle, the season 20 premiere saw Adam call up a girl he was casually seeing to end things after getting cast on the show.
“Hey, this is really crazy, but I’m applying to be on Married at First Sight, and I’ve been interviewing for a while to go on and get matched with someone,” he told the mystery woman over the phone while expert Paul C. Brunson listened in. “I won’t be able to keep seeing you, and I just wanted to say I’ve had an awesome time with you, so I’m sorry.”
And to say she didn’t take it well would be…an understatement.
But did his gamble pay off? The weddings took place back in September 2025, so naturally, fans are curious whether Adam and Marissa (1) say “I do” and (2) are actually still together nearly a year later. We won’t know for sure until the reunion drops on August 27…but there are some ~rumors~ about Marissa and Adam’s fate out there.
On the MAFS subreddit, the creator behind @mafsfan posted to ask whether anyone knew “any of the cast or anyone else involved” in the upcoming season, to which a commenter replied, “Yes, a friend of mine just went on a date with a guy called Adam James Dehmlow; he’s in the new season. He will get married to Marissa Meyer, but he also said right away that the marriage only lasted two weeks and they had to keep it a secret until the reunion.”
The insider added, “He broke it off after two weeks because her lifestyle wasn’t active enough for him and apparently the intimacy wasn’t working either.”
I guess time will tell whether this ^^^ ends up being true!!
