• Kaia Gerber and Homer Gere discovered their parents—supermodel Cindy Crawford and actor Richard Gere—were married in the '90s while filming FX's The Shards together, making them the ultimate nepo baby connection.
  • The co-stars casually acknowledged their parents’ past marriage 20 minutes into meeting at a Los Feliz bar, with Homer recalling Kaia’s laid-back response to the surprising revelation.
  • Cindy and Richard, who were together from 1988 to 1995, remained friendly after splitting but became “strangers” due to limited contact, as revealed in a 2016 podcast interview.

Kaia Gerber and Homer Gere might be the nepo baby final bosses. In case you somehow haven’t been on social media this past month, the duo has been unexpectedly connected way before starring together on FX’s The Shards. Kaia’s mom, supermodel Cindy Crawford, and Homer’s dad, actor Richard Gere, were married in the ’90s before eventually settling down and welcoming more nepo babies into the world. Naturally, everyone on the internet has collectively lost their minds over Kaia and Homer’s budding friendship given Richard and Cindy’s past. But they don’t really seem to care as much!

In their recent Vogue cover story, the pair revealed that they first met while working on The Shards and addressed the elephant in the room during a night out at Ye Rustic Inn in Los Feliz with the rest of the cast.

“That’s Kaia’s spot. It’s, like, her chill I’m-gonna-go-have-a-beer-and-smoke-a-cig-outside spot,” Homer recalled, adding, “Twenty minutes into knowing each other, I was like: ‘Should we just acknowledge the fact that our parents were married?’ She was like: ‘Yeah. Cool.’ And that was it.” (I guess nonchalance won this time.)

Elsewhere during the interview, Homer also reacted to Ryan Murphy’s stunt casting of him and Kaia for the project, saying, “Maybe it seems too on the nose.”

What’s more: Kaia and Homer’s Vogue spread was lensed by fashion photographer Steven Meisel, who also shot their famous parents for the mag in 1990. Iconic!

Richard and Cindy—who had a 17-year age gap—were together from 1988 to 1995 and eventually split up because they “didn’t spend enough time together.”

Though they became “strangers” after their split, Cindy revealed that they remained “friendly” while speaking with the WTF podcast in 2016.

“We’re friendly, but I think it’s almost like he’s gone back to being, like, ‘Richard Gere’ again, like a stranger, because we don’t really see each other that much,” she dished at the time. “I think part of the problem in our relationship was that we were a lot of other things, but I don’t know if we were ever friends—like peers, because I was young, and he was Richard Gere.”
