KATSEYE is gearing up for another major moment.
A few days before the global girl group drops their EP, WILD, they’re giving their beloved EYEKONS an exclusive behind-the-scenes look into their hectic lives as they prep for milestone career moments in their upcoming doc, KATSEYE: WILD HEARTS. The documentary hits theaters for a limited release on August 12, and fans are wondering whether the group’s sixth member, Manon Bannerman, will appear in the project amid her months-long hiatus.
Lara Raj, Daniela Avanzini, Megan Skiendiel, and Yoonchae attended the movie’s premiere at the Grove in Los Angeles on Tuesday, August 4, and finally revealed whether Manon made it into the final cut of the film.
Lara was actually the one to spill some tea during an interview with Entertainment Tonight, saying, “She will forever be such an integral part of the journey of KATSEYE, and of course she’s included in the film. It’s so lovely, and we’re so happy to see it. The fans, I think, will be so excited to see it.”
Elsewhere during her chat with ET, Lara also explained why Sophia Laforteza was noticeably absent from the premiere.
“She’s sick right now,” Lara shared. “But she sends her love. She wishes she could be here. She says hi!”
Sophia dropped out of the group’s first-ever headlining performance at Hinterland Music Festival in Iowa to rest and recover from her illness a few days before the premiere on July 30.
According to a Weverse message, “We’re sorry to share that due to illness, Sophia will not be able to perform at the Hinterland Music Festival on Thursday, July 30. She is resting and focusing on her recovery. Daniela, Lara, Megan and Yoonchae will perform at the festival as scheduled. Thank you for your understanding and for supporting Sophia and KATSEYE.”
This latest update on Manon comes after the group discussed her hiatus during their Allure cover story, where Sophia clarified that she’s still part of the group.
“Because we did announce that it is about her well-being, it’s not our place or anybody else’s place to rush her,” she said at the time. “We want to give her all the time that she needs, all the space that she needs, and so we don’t want to make any assumptions, set anything in stone…She really deserves that and the door is always open.”
She continued, “We love her and the fans love her. The people love her. They love KATSEYE. If I was in their place, I would be asking, too, and so we understand. But what we can say is that we wish that you could just keep extending love and support and patience and all those things, because all of us deserve that. Anybody does.”
