Prince William just made his TikTok debut in the sweetest way. While visiting Belfast City Campus Centre earlier this week, where he met students studying in the arts, his presence inadvertently made a group of friends late for their lecture.
Of course, it's not every day you bump into royalty, which is why student Samatha Jones and a couple of her pals decided to skip the beginning of their class to have a chat with the Prince instead. But after realising they'd need to explain their lateness to their lecturer, Samantha decided to utilise their extremely unique situation.
In classic Gen-Z fashion, she took to TikTok to film the Prince as evidence, jokingly asking him if he would bail them out. Thankfully, William was more than happy to oblige and joined in on the humorous gag, with Samantha boldly asking the future King: "Just tell her why we're late! Just say sorry."
Embracing the spontaneous moment, the Prince asked the students for the name of their lecturer, and showed his less tech-savvy side, by querying, "Are you recording?" Still, he made up for this by sweetly addressing the camera and giving a perfectly sarcastic response.
While flashing a playful smile, the 42-year-old said: "Lesley, I'm very sorry we're late, but they seem to be caught up, and they wouldn't believe that you were here, so just say hi."
The video, which has now gone viral, garnered plenty of comments from TikTokkers, many of whom joked that you "can't argue with a royal pardon."
"The king has spoken," another person said, while someone else added: "Being royally pardoned from your lecture is absolutely brilliant ahahahah."
Other notable comments included: "Interactions with royals are getting more and more unserious and I love that for them," and: "That's the best excuse ever!!!!"
Err, iconic might be the word?
