With summer fast approaching, the need to free our toes from the confines of their winter boots grows increasingly stronger every day. As we are starting to wear our midi skirts and linen trousers more often, the Doc Martens and leather trainers are looking a little out of place. Sandals, loafers, and slip-ons are not only all more weather-appropriate, but they're comfy and easy to wear too.
But just because a pair of shoes is easy to wear doesn't mean they have to be boring! In fact, when the warmer months call for wearing all whites and neutral colours (since they're so much cooler than shades of black and other dark hues), investing in a bold pair of sandals is a great way to liven up an otherwise lacklustre summer outfit.
Just picture these with a tiered white maxi skirt and lace top co-ord - summer reincarnate! Or with some cream capris, a matching blue cami, huge sunglasses and a woven bag - you'll look right at home mooching around the streets of Santorini. We even love the idea of pairing these sandals with denim, since the cobalt colour would be so complementary, so why not chuck on your favourite pair of jeans (which are likely far more appropriate for a UK summer anyway...), loose white tee, and a little cardi over your shoulders.
Experimenting with colour is a great way to breathe life into your wardrobe. Doing it with shoes in particular is a less daunting introduction of shades you might not typically wear, since they aren't usually the focal point of an outfit. A colourful shoe also gives plenty of room for more thoughtful curation of your accessories. Why not try a matching bag or pair of sunglasses? Or maybe you have a pair of blue earrings that have been collecting dust for a while... There's no time like the summer to start having a little fun with the bolder colours and shades!
