Helen Mirren has broken her silence on rumours Tom Hardy has allegedly been 'fired' from MobLand amid rising tensions between them, to show her support for the actor.
News broke over the weekend that Tom Hardy would reportedly not be returning to MobLand following season 2. In case you missed initial reports, Puck and Variety spoke to sources who alleged that Tom — as Variety put it — "was not asked to return to the series following on-set issues with executive producer Jez Butterworth, 101 Studios, and others.”
The Daily Mail then reported that Tom allegedly “enraged” his co-star Dame Helen Mirren with his behaviour on set and “swaggers around like a king.”
The insider added, "He can be late to filming too and that is annoying for Dame Helen, who is extremely professional and disciplined. His tone is something Dame Helen doesn’t like, along with his lateness. She expects better. She holds people to a high standard. She’s 80. She’s been there and seen it all. The behind-the-scenes crew watch it all and believe that she no longer looks as happy working on scenes with him. It has all become quite personal between them."
However, Helen has now spoken out to minimise the claims, showing her support for her co-star and putting an end to the feud rumours. This is a reminder to take everything from 'sources' with a pinch of salt, people!
Taking to her Instagram grid, where the actor has 1million followers, she shared a photo of Tom and added a very simple statement:
"Love you now and always, Helen"
Well, that's the end of that one, then! It's unclear whether Tom will return for season three of MobLand, or if it's even guaranteed to happen, but one thing is for sure: we're excited for new episodes to drop later this year.
