Look, we get it. In an ideal world, every summer would be stuffed full of beach holidays, road trips and weekends in the countryside. It's only a little thing called an ‘annual leave allowance’ that always seems to get in the way.
Thankfully, Prime Video has got all of the escapism you need this summer. Whether it’s the dramatic landscapes of House of the Dragon, or the stunning seas of Below Deck Mediterranean, you can step into another world from the comfort of your sofa. Whether it’s a trip to 1930s New York, a long weekend in a quintessential lakeside town or a sunny break in the dazzling Dubrovnik, here are six TV shows to transport you somewhere new.
Every Year After
Fans of One Day and The Summer I Turned Pretty, this one’s for you. Based on Carley Fortune’s bestselling novel, the romantic drama Every Year After follows childhood best friends and first loves Percy and Sam, who spend one week a year together in Barry’s Bay, a picturesque lakeside town in Ontario. Years after Percy makes a catastrophic mistake, a now-adult Sam is forced to return to the scene of their childhood, where she confronts the man she left behind all those years ago. Is there a second chance for these childhood sweethearts?

House of the Dragon, S3
While King’s Landing might not exactly be at the top of your travel list, you can no doubt appreciate the beauty of the imposing medieval castles, windswept coastlines and rugged landscapes featured in House of the Dragon. We’re back in Westeros for season three, as full-blown war explodes among the Targaryens. It’s Queen Rhaenyra and husband/uncle Daemon against Alicent Hightower, Aegon II and Aemond, with the long-awaited Battle of the Gullet poised to become one of the show’s most devastating fights to date. Expect betrayal, escalation and revenge, with their dragons also taking centre stage.

Below Deck: Mediterranean
Let us set the scene: the sun is blazing down, the drinks are cooled, and you’re on a luxury superyacht moored just off the coast of Dubrovnik.
